Masters Chigiana perform a program of music by Boccherini, Rodrigo, Haydn
Oscar Ghiglia with Sofia Festival Orchestra conducted by Maurizio Dones, opened in Siena, Sunday, July 19, the 78esima Estate Musicale Chigiana.
Dopo il grande successo di pubblico e di critica con cui è stata accolta la 66° Settimana Musicale Senese, l’Accademia Chigiana prosegue la sua ricca estate di appuntamenti con i più grandi maestri della musica.
Il concerto che avrà luogo, alle ore 21.15 al Teatro dei Rozzi propone un programma con musiche di Luigi Boccherini, Joaquíne Rodrigo e Franz Joseph Haydn.
Oscar Ghiglia è legato da anni all’Accademia Chigiana: fu infatti prima allievo dell’istituzione senese e attualmente a Siena è docente ai corsi di chitarra e musica da camera. Al termine degli studi ha ricevuto numerosi riconoscimenti e nel 1964 fu scelto da Segovia come assistente. Oscar Ghiglia was the founder-chairman of the department of classical guitar in the Aspen Music School in Colorado. He taught for many years at the Academy of Music in Basel, it is often invited to give master classes in colleges of Zurich and Lucerne and is regularly a visiting professor at the Julliard School in New York, Northwestern University, Chicago, Cincinnati University Conservatory of Music, where he teaches courses each year. Maurizio Dones was formed in Milan at the Conservatorio "Giuseppe Verdi" and has studied conducting with Gianluigi Gelmetti, became the assistant and frequent collaborator. These include the monumental Missa de Beatification with José Carreras solo, performed in the Sala Nervi at the Vatican monovision (May 2, 1999) for the beatification of Padre Pio. Dones is assistant teacher at the Music Academy in Siena Chigi for the course in conducting required by Gianluigi Gelmetti, is chief conductor of the State Music Theatre in the city of Rostov-on- Don (Russia) and since 2008 the Orchestra "New chamber" Milan has entrusted him with the musical direction.
The Orchestra of Sofia was established in 1991 by a group of Bulgarian musicians who had been part of the Symphony Orchestra of the Musical Academy of Sofia. Under the name of the Academic Symphony Orchestra, this group had worked with the Chigi Academy of Music since 1971 as part of the Masterclass Conducting.
Mindful of unforgettable experiences reported by collaborating with Maestro Franco Ferrara - then Professor of the courses - these musicians have wanted to rebuild that orchestra under the direction of Naydenov Alipio, who for twenty years with various orchestras and has successfully collaborated with the Bulgarian artistic Academy Chigiana. Together
the orchestra, was born in Sofia Club "Friends of Chigiana in Bulgaria" in order to safeguard the traditional contacts and develop creative relationships between musicians Bulgarian Academy itself.

Tickets still available for individual events go on sale the day of the concert starting at 15.30 at 18 at the box office at Palazzo Chigi Saracini (via Town 89, Siena) and two hours before the start of the concert directly at the Teatro dei Rozzi.
